Maybe someone should make WoWGURU Auctions too, see if it's a success.
It costs nothing to use, after all, unlike the in-game auction house.

I would use it. My time (to setup a thread on guru) is worth a lot more to me then 100g(or whatever the price might be) in-game.

QFT. It could be a clue that there is something in the works as Gaile DOES pretend not to know anything about it. She talks directly to the design team all te time, I'm sure she would have simply ASKED them before pretending not to know anything about it.
Look at the the polar bear situation. She flat out denied its existance before it was actually released. If she denies this, I will be more apt to believe that it IS coming, I think her "I don't know" response is just another tactic for dealing with leaked information.

Because its a hassle for the majority of people to LEAVE the game, register on some website, take a screenshot(s) of the item(s) (maybe edit the screenshot which takes more time), and add text describing the item
Its extra time that people don't want AWAY from the game
Its the same reason I'd like built in VOICE CHAT for guild wars instead of having to download Ventrilo or Teamspeak and set that all up...it adds another 15-30 minutes for our guild vs guild battles getting others without ventrilo setup and its a hassle that could be done without

You forgot to mention the "contact the buyer/seller via email" and "arrange the time & place to meet" steps, which personally I find them to be the most inconvenient thing ever, especially when your timezones are different (a lot different).
And the whole "fake auction" thing and "oh, I sold it already" etc etc.

This information in the dat file has been changing recently. This is not old stuff being stagnant, as posted by several other dat file surfers, it was initially called Marketplace and then changed to Xunlei Market. As well things like dedicated and the sort show the recent nature of these developments. As we all know dedicated was just a month or so ago when it initially started after the "customized" debacle with minipets after the initial HoM offering. So it could be something they are testing for GW2, I would doubt it having tested it on this engine, it could be something they are toying with and never comes about, OR it could be a nice surprise we get to see in the near future if the bugs are sorted out. Regardless until Gaile or another member of the GW staff comments on it, we really have no way to know if it is or isnt going to come about.

Or they might've and not scrapped it...
I hope this gets implemented, I always end up selling the stuff I post on guru in game anyways. This will save me the time of having to spam in the trade channels. I'd pay a fee to save myself an hour or two spamming my mods.

I think this is a very important thing to note, here. The code for this Xunlai Market includes text about dedicated items, which was introduced about a month or so after the release of GW:EN as a response for the complaints about customized-to-the-character minipets in the HoM. This means that this code was worked on within the last 3 months.
So, if it was scrapped, it was fairly recently. This isn't something that was scrapped years ago or anything. Just throwing it out there.

That has to be recent, because even if GWEN was in alpha ages ago, then the text would be the mini has been customized. Dont forget the update which changed minipet customization to dedication.

Re: Gaile. Well, really, what CAN she say?
She can say "Yes, this is true." and then everyone jumps on her for WHEN WHEN OMG OMGOMG OMGGGGGGSPAZZZZZZZZZ for weeks until it's released.
She can say "Nope." and... then it turns out to me true, and everyone crucifies her AGAIN, the same way they did with the polar bear mini.
There may also be valid reasons why stuff cannot be revealed. Still in testing, full of bugs, might violate company NDA if you talk about stuff before it's ready...
Just wait and see, that's all we can do.

I'm skeptical. I mean, why now? Why so close to GW2 and so far into GW? I'm more inclined to think maybe it's something they're just testing. But on that note, I hope that GW2 has a more advanced 'market place', 'auctions house', or similar than what has been seen in the dat.
At this point...who the hell knows what's what. I guess only the developers, and they're not about to start fanning the flames (Gaile included) if there's nothing but smoke and no real substance.

Arcane does have a good point here. Dedicated Minis were after EoTN, so it is not like this is a year old like the mini polar bear was (which btw has been found in the .dat). They need something that will be awesome to get people excited about GW again, and I think this could do the trick (along with some new, free elite area, like a new realm of a God for instance *winkwink )
I would definitely use this, and paying to post items makes sense get all of the crap out, although having a minimum price for goods put in the Marketplace would work as well. Hopefully Anet will do something about potential botters that could invade this. Maybe a good way to weed out newb sellers AND bots is to restrict access to the Marketplace by either placing in far in each game (Amnoon Oasis Droks (bots might have easy access to both tho...) for Prophecies, Kodash Bazaar for NF (perfect place for it too ), not sure about a place in Factions) or requiring Ascension or previously beating a campaign to access the Marketplace.
I'm pretty hopeful for this to happen. The min polar bear happened...what if we found it before wintersday? Exactly my point. And Gaile acted in the exact same way. Although she might not even know about it, for it could be a super-uper secret in Anet.

That is why she needs to just ignore this thread for a long time. After the mini polar bear fiasco, she should just stay in some hidden corner somewhere and only post silly things like, why yes I do like your avatar.

this is outside of the "no substantial updates for guild wars cuz our team is all focused full time on gw2".
such a feature can be implemented in both games so a first poor version could very likely be rolled in guild wars to test it and to collect suggestions to make it better for guild wars 2.
i would be fine with it, as long as it works and is not exploitable for duping items who's supposed to be against this?
go go go plz make this real

I hope it's real, but it's too early to tell.
Maybe someone at Anet has cancelled the project because people found out about it and posted forums

That'd be a terrible waste of man-hours, but then again, we don't know the full story behind GW Utopia either. Take anything we "dat surfers" posted with a grain of salt, y'know? Don't wanna spread false hope.
